‘The Protest Space’ thesis explores the mechanisms for a society where individuals can affect dēmokratia regardless of their political, social or economic standing. These are spaces  which facilitate a combination of direct, architectural  and urban  spatial actions by those active in negotiating these contested territories. The analysis is of the dynamic between protest and architecture and explains how legislative parameters, parliament, the press, police and protesters affect the efficacy of a democratic architecture in the neo-liberal city.
