Performative Architectures – Between Theory and Practice

My research inquiry asks: what new forms of critical spatial knowledge as performative research might be used to challenge/open up the understanding of architecture and urban politics in public space? Informed by a feminist approach that rethinks places through the way they are practiced, performed and embodied, my performative research engages with, makes visible and questions spatial perceptions and ways of constructing knowledge about place. With my performance-based praxis as its focus, my research investigates what is at stake in architectural practice and theory in such an approach, while opening up significant dialogues between social sciences, performance studies, live/visual art and architecture.
